Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
It highlights tapas (disciplined austerity) as a means of purifying the bound soul (paśu) and making it fit to receive Shiva’s grace (anugraha), which alone culminates in liberation.
By emphasizing sustained penance at a sacred place, the verse supports the Shaiva view that concentrated worship—often centered on Shiva’s saguna presence such as the Linga—stabilizes devotion and inwardness, preparing the seeker for Shiva’s revelation.
The takeaway is steady, long-term sādhanā: daily japa of the Panchākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya), meditation on Shiva, and disciplined vows—supported by Shaiva observances such as bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and rudrākṣa where appropriate.
