Account of the Pippalāda Avatāra
ākāśavāṇyuvāca | sāhasaṃ na kuru prājñe śṛṇu me paramaṃ vacaḥ | munitejastvadudare tadutpādaya yatnataḥ
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Mantra: sāhasaṃ na kuru prājñe śṛṇu me paramaṃ vacaḥ | munitejastvadudare tadutpādaya yatnataḥ
Role: teaching
It teaches restraint and obedience to higher dharma: divine guidance warns that spiritual power (muni-tejas) must be protected and brought to fruition through careful, disciplined action rather than impulsive behavior.
Though the verse is narrative, its Shaiva Siddhanta thrust aligns with Saguna Shiva’s grace guiding embodied beings: the divine (through ākāśavāṇī) safeguards the unfolding of a sacred birth or purpose, just as Linga-worship centers the devotee in disciplined reverence and right action.
The practical takeaway is self-restraint (saṃyama) and attentive listening (śravaṇa) to dharmic instruction—supporting steady japa of Shiva’s name (e.g., Panchakshara) and calm, non-impulsive conduct while undertaking vows or sacred duties.
