Bāṇa’s Renewed Engagement in Battle

It shows how the force of conflict can shake even devoted hearts; steadiness (dhairya) is preserved when the mind is anchored in the highest refuge—ultimately Pati (Śiva) beyond fear—rather than in agitation caused by external events.
In the Yuddhakhaṇḍa’s battle setting, the verse highlights mental disturbance under pressure; Saguna-Śiva worship (Liṅga, mantra, pūjā) is presented in Shaiva tradition as a stabilizing support that gathers the mind and restores inner composure.
Cultivate steadiness through japa—especially the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”—and supportive Shaiva disciplines like Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and Rudrākṣa, which are traditionally used to keep awareness centered during turmoil.
