विष्णुचेष्टितवर्णनम् / Account of Viṣṇu’s Stratagem and Its Aftermath
इत्याख्यानमघोघघ्नं सर्वकामप्रदं नृणाम् । सर्व कामविकारघ्नं सर्वविज्ञानवर्द्धनम्
ityākhyānamaghoghaghnaṃ sarvakāmapradaṃ nṛṇām | sarva kāmavikāraghnaṃ sarvavijñānavarddhanam
Kaya nito, ang banal na salaysay na ito’y pumupuksa sa mabibigat na kasalanan, nagkakaloob sa tao ng lahat ng wastong hangarin, nag-aalis ng lahat ng pagbaluktot na bunga ng pagnanasa, at nagpapalago ng bawat uri ng tunay na pagkaunawang espirituwal.

Significance: Frames Śiva-kathā as a portable tīrtha: it destroys agha (pāśa as pāpa/avidyā), purifies kāma-vikāra, and matures vijñāna—benefits typically sought through pilgrimage and vrata.
Type: stotra
It declares the phalaśruti (spiritual fruit) of the kathā: by śravaṇa and smaraṇa of Shiva’s sacred narrative, heavy sins are destroyed, desire is purified of its distortions, and higher discernment (vijñāna) grows—supporting the Shaiva goal of liberation under Pati (Shiva).
The verse praises the power of Shiva-kathā itself as a means to approach Saguna Shiva with devotion; such purified devotion naturally supports Linga-worship by cleansing kāma-vikāra and stabilizing the mind for reverent pūjā and contemplation.
Regular śravaṇa/pāṭha (hearing/recitation) of the Shiva Purana—especially with a focused mind and devotion to Shiva—serves as a practical sādhana; it is a direct takeaway even without a specific mention of rudrākṣa, bhasma, or mantra in this verse.
