नारदमोहवर्णनम् — Description of Nārada’s Delusion
विष्णुरुवाच । स्वेष्टदेशं मुने गच्छ करिष्यामि हितं तव । भिषग्वरो यथार्त्तस्य यतः प्रियतरोऽसि मे
viṣṇuruvāca | sveṣṭadeśaṃ mune gaccha kariṣyāmi hitaṃ tava | bhiṣagvaro yathārttasya yataḥ priyataro'si me
Lord Vishnu
Tattva Level: pashu
Role: nurturing
It highlights divine compassion expressed as “hita” (true welfare): the Lord guides the devotee toward what benefits the soul, not merely what pleases the senses—an attitude aligned with Shaiva Siddhanta’s emphasis on grace (anugraha) leading the bound soul toward liberation.
Though spoken by Viṣṇu, the Purana’s Shaiva frame presents all divine assistance as ultimately supportive of approaching Śiva’s grace; the assurance of “I will do your welfare” echoes the protective, accessible Saguna dimension through which devotees are led toward deeper realization.
The practical takeaway is obedience to dharmic guidance and steady devotion: proceed to a sanctified or chosen place of sādhana and continue japa and worship (e.g., pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”), trusting that true “hita” unfolds through disciplined practice.
