दीक्षितपुत्रस्य दैन्यचिन्ता तथा शिवरात्र्युपासनाप्रसङ्गः / The Initiate’s Son in Distress and the Occasion of Śivarātri Worship
ब्रह्मोवाच । श्रुत्वा तथा स वृत्तांतं प्राक्तनं स्वं विनिंद्य च । कांचिद्दिशं समालोक्य निर्ययौ दीक्षितांगजः
brahmovāca | śrutvā tathā sa vṛttāṃtaṃ prāktanaṃ svaṃ viniṃdya ca | kāṃciddiśaṃ samālokya niryayau dīkṣitāṃgajaḥ
Sinabi ni Brahmā: Nang marinig niya ang salaysay na iyon, sinisi at pinuna niya ang sarili niyang dating asal. Pagkaraan, tumingin siya sa isang dako, at ang anak ni Dīkṣita (Dakṣa) ay umalis at naglakbay.

It highlights the inner turning-point of remorse: after hearing the truth, one condemns one’s former error and changes direction—an essential step before receiving Shiva’s grace and moving toward right conduct.
Though the verse is narrative, it sets the ethical ground for Shiva-bhakti: recognizing one’s mistake and humbling the ego prepares the devotee to approach Saguna Shiva (often through Linga-worship) with sincerity rather than pride.
The practical takeaway is self-examination and repentance (ātma-vicāra) before worship—then proceed to Shiva-upāsanā such as japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya” with a corrected attitude.
