Instruction on Rudra–Viṣṇu Unity and Divine Injunctions
Brahmā (addressing Rudra/Śiva in the creation context)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Rudra
Role: creative
Cosmic Event: sṛṣṭi-kārya: guṇa-based manifestation for loka-kārya
It presents Rudra as the Lord who assumes a guṇa-associated (saguṇa) form to carry out cosmic functions, showing that Shiva’s grace can accomplish what limited beings—even Brahmā in his role—cannot.
It supports saguṇa-upāsanā: Shiva can be approached in a manifest form that operates within the guṇas for the world’s order, while still remaining the supreme Pati beyond limitation—an idea central to Linga worship as the accessible sign of the transcendent.
Contemplate Rudra as the divine doer of worldly and inner transformation while repeating the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”); offer bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and/or rudrākṣa with the intention of surrendering personal incapacity to Shiva’s accomplishing power.
