Matagal kong pinagbulayan sa aking puso, nalilito dahil sa Māyā ni Śiva; tunay ngang nagselos ako kay Śiva. Makinig ka—isasalaysay ko sa iyo.
Brahmā (narrating his inner state to a listener in the Sati-khaṇḍa context)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
It teaches that even exalted beings can be veiled by Śiva’s Māyā, and that spiritual progress requires recognizing and confessing faults like jealousy, then turning toward humility and devotion to Pati (Śiva).
By admitting jealousy toward Śiva, the speaker highlights the need to shift from ego-driven comparison to reverent surrender; in Shiva Purana this is resolved through devotion to Saguna Śiva—often approached through Liṅga-worship—as a concrete means to purify the mind.
The verse implies inner purification: honest self-examination, listening to śāstra, and cultivating bhakti; a practical takeaway is regular japa of the Pañcākṣarī ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") to steady the mind and dissolve envy.
