Viṣṇu’s Hymn and the Petition for Śiva–Satī’s Protection
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Īśāna
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
The verse teaches that Śiva’s māyā can bewilder all embodied beings, but steadfast devotion to Śiva (Śiva-bhakti) becomes the distinguishing grace-filled path that cuts through delusion and turns the mind toward liberation.
By emphasizing Śiva’s wondrous līlā and māyā, it supports Saguna worship—approaching the Lord through accessible forms such as the Śiva-liṅga—so devotion becomes stable and the devotee is not carried away by māyā’s projections.
The practical takeaway is to strengthen Śiva-bhakti through daily japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya"), along with simple liṅga-pūjā; such devotion is presented as the safeguard against delusion.
