Viṣṇu’s Hymn and the Petition for Śiva–Satī’s Protection
शभुंनोद्यमिते शूले मां च हंतुं द्विजोत्तम । मरीचिप्रमुखास्ते वै हाहाकारं च चक्रिरे
śabhuṃnodyamite śūle māṃ ca haṃtuṃ dvijottama | marīcipramukhāste vai hāhākāraṃ ca cakrire
O pinakamainam sa mga Brahmin, nang itaas ni Śambhu (Śiva) ang kaniyang trident upang patayin ako, ang mga pantas na pinangungunahan ni Marīci ay sumigaw sa pangamba ng “hā hā,” at nagkaroon ng malaking kaguluhan.

It highlights Shiva as the supreme Pati whose power is awe-inspiring even to great sages; the verse points to the soul’s need for humility and surrender, recognizing that liberation comes through Shiva’s grace, not through ego or status.
The trident-bearing Shiva is Saguna—God with attributes—whose visible power protects dharma and dissolves obstacles; Linga-worship trains the devotee to approach that same Lord with reverence and steadiness, transforming fear into devotion.
A practical takeaway is japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) with a surrendered mind, along with simple Shaiva observances like applying Tripuṇḍra (bhasma) and remembering Shiva as the compassionate Lord even when His power appears formidable.
