It highlights a sattvic inner quality—lajjā (modest humility)—as an ornament of the Divine Mother, showing that true greatness in Shaiva devotion is accompanied by softness, restraint, and purity of heart.
In the Parvati Khanda, devotion is presented through saguna relationships—Shiva and Shakti as accessible divine persons. Parvati’s reverent, modest response to sacred narration supports bhakti-oriented worship that naturally culminates in steadfast reverence toward Shiva, often expressed through Linga-puja.
The takeaway is śravaṇa (devout listening) and inner humility: hear Shiva-kathā attentively, keep the mind gentle and restrained, and support it with simple daily practice like japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra “Om Namaḥ Śivāya.”
