Role: destructive
The verse highlights Devī’s role as Śiva’s Śakti who safeguards dharma: when divine beings act with error or pride, the cosmic order responds through consequence. In Shaiva understanding, this is not mere anger, but a purifying corrective that restores right relation to Śiva and truth.
By showing Śivā (Devī) acting as the living power of Śiva, the text supports Saguna worship: devotees approach Śiva through manifest forms—Liṅga and Devī—recognizing that grace and discipline both arise from the same divine reality.
A practical takeaway is humility and steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") to pacify inner anger and align with Śiva-tattva; applying bhasma (tripuṇḍra) and maintaining calm devotion are traditional Shaiva disciplines implied by the theme of purifying correction.
