Gautama’s Vision of Śiva and the Teaching on Sin and Purification
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
The verse teaches that Shiva-bhakti and Shiva’s grace purify pāpa: one who is steadfast in devotion becomes a vessel of sanctity, so even their darśana uplifts and cleanses others.
It supports Saguna worship through darśana—seeing Shiva (especially as the Jyotirlinga) is not merely symbolic but grace-bearing, and devotion to that manifested form removes impurity and strengthens liberation-oriented faith.
Maintain daily Shiva-bhakti—especially Linga/Jyotirlinga darśana with japa of the Panchakshara (Om Namaḥ Śivāya); approach worship with purity of intent, as devotion itself is presented as the purifier.
