अथ महाव्रतमिति अग्निर्वै देवा नामतः । तथैतस्य समाम्नायमिषेत्वोर्ज्जे त्वा वेति तत्

Sumunod, ang ritwal na tinatawag na “Mahāvrata” ay tunay na si Agni, na kilala ng mga deva sa pangalang iyon. Gayundin, ang tradisyunal na pagbigkas para rito ay: “iṣe tvā, ūrje tvā”—‘para sa pag-alaga at sustansiya, tinatawag kita; para sa lakas, tinatawag kita.’
