Assessment of the Vanaras’ Leaping Capacity; Jambavan Motivates Hanuman
मूलमर्थस्य संरक्ष्यमेष कार्यविदां नयः।मूले सति हि सिद्ध्यन्ति गुणा फलो पुष्पोदयाः।।।।
mūlam arthasya saṃrakṣyam eṣa kāryavidāṃ nayaḥ |
mūle sati hi siddhyanti guṇā phalo puṣpodayāḥ ||
Ang ugat ng layunin ay dapat ingatan—ito ang patakaran ng mga nakaaalam kung paano natatapos ang mga gawain. Sapagkat kapag ligtas ang ugat, nahihinog ang mga kabutihan, at sumisibol ang mga bulaklak at bunga.
'The root of any objective should be protected well. This is the basis of an accomplisher. Only when the roots are intact, the trees have the ability to yield flowers and fruits.
Dharma as wise stewardship: protect what is foundational to a righteous goal; only then can success (the ‘fruits’) and excellence (the ‘flowers’) manifest.
Jāmbavān generalizes his counsel into a maxim: do not endanger the mission’s ‘root’ (Angada’s leadership role).
Nīti-jñāna (practical wisdom): the ability to frame a concrete decision as a universal principle of success.
