ऋश्यशृङ्गानयनकथा — The Account of Bringing Ṛśyaśṛṅga
and the Remedy for Drought
तेषां तु वचनं श्रुत्वा राजा चिन्तां प्रपत्स्यते ।केनोपायेन वै शक्य इहानेतुं स वीर्यवान् ।।।।
teṣāṃ tu vacanaṃ śrutvā rājā cintāṃ prapatsyate | kenopāyena vai śakya ihānētuṃ sa vīryavān ||
Nang marinig ng hari ang kanilang mga salita, siya’y napasailalim sa mabigat na pag-aalala: “Sa anong paraan maihahatid dito ang makapangyarihang pantas na iyon?”
On hearing their words, the king in a thoughtful mood said, 'How can the mighty sage be brought here'?
Dharma includes careful means (upāya) consistent with righteousness: even a good end must be pursued thoughtfully, respecting the sage’s power and autonomy.
Daśaratha accepts the recommendation but worries about the practical and ethical challenge of inviting a great ascetic to court.
Caution and discernment: he does not rush; he weighs feasibility and the right approach.
