The Appearance of Parasurama on the Return from Mithila
तं दृष्ट्वा भीमसङ्काशं ज्वलन्तमिव पावकम्।वसिष्ठप्रमुखा विप्रा जपहोमपरायणा:।।।।सङ्गता मुनयस्सर्वे सञ्जजल्पुरथो मिथ:।
taṃ dṛṣṭvā bhīmasaṅkāśaṃ jvalantam iva pāvakam |
vasiṣṭhapramukhā viprā japahomapārāyaṇāḥ |
saṅgatā munayaḥ sarve sañjajalpur atho mithaḥ ||
Nang makita nila si Bhārgava Rāma—nakapanghihilakbot ang anyo, naglalagablab na wari’y apoy—nagtipon si Vasiṣṭha at ang iba pang mga pantas na brāhmaṇa, na nakatuon sa pagbigkas ng mga mantra at sa paghahandog sa banal na apoy; at ang lahat ng mga muni ay nag-usap-usap sa isa’t isa sa marahang pagsangguni.
King Janaka, lord of the Videhas, gave plenty of gifts to his daughters and followed king Dasaratha for some distance on his journey to Ayodhya.
Dharma here appears as prudent restraint: the sages respond to a potentially dangerous ascetic-warrior not with provocation but with careful counsel and measured speech.
