कुशनाभकन्याशतविवाहः — The Marriage of Kuśanābha’s Hundred Daughters
and the Birth of Brahmadatta
तासां तद्वचनं श्रुत्वा राजा परमधार्मिक:।प्रत्युवाच महातेजा: कन्याशतमनुत्तमम्।।1.33.5।।
tāsāṁ tadvacanaṁ śrutvā rājā paramadhārmikaḥ | pratyuvāca mahātejāḥ kanyāśatam anuttamam || 1.33.5 ||
Nang marinig ng hari—lubhang matuwid at dakila ang ningning—ang mga salitang iyon ng kaniyang mga anak na babae, sumagot siya sa kaniyang di-matatawarang sandaang dalaga.
The deeply religious and highly powerful king, having heard those words of his one hundred exceptional daughters, replied:
A dhārmika king listens before judging; righteous governance begins with attentive hearing of those affected, especially one’s dependents.
The daughters have reported their stance and suffering; the king now responds to them formally.
