The Account of Tāṭakā and the Royal Duty to Protect
तां तु जातां विवर्धन्तीं रूपयौवनशालिनीम्।झर्झपुत्राय सुन्दाय ददौ भार्यां यशस्विनीम्।।।।
tāṃ tu jātāṃ vivardhantīṃ rūpayauvanaśālinīm |
jharjhaputrāya sundāya dadau bhāryāṃ yaśasvinīm ||
At nang siya’y isilang at lumaki, nagniningning sa ganda at kabataan, ang tanyag na siya ay ibinigay bilang asawa kay Sunda, anak ni Jharjha.
As she grew up, glowing with youth and beauty she was given in marriage to Sunda, son of Jharjha.
The verse reflects the social dharma of marriage alliances shaping lineage and future outcomes—private unions can have public consequences.
Viśvāmitra narrates that Tāṭakā, upon reaching youth, was married to Sunda.
No single virtue is foregrounded; the emphasis is on life-course transitions (birth, growth, marriage) within societal norms.
