Habang siya’y nananahan doon, si Shurpanakha—ang rākṣasī na nag-iiba-iba ng anyo at naninirahan sa Janasthana—ay napangit dahil sa kanyang pagsalakay.
During his stay there a demon called Surpanakha living in Janasthana (resting place for the army of Ravana in Dandakaranya) and capable of assuming any form at will was rendered deformed by Lakshmana.
Adharma—aggression and violation of boundaries—brings immediate consequences; dharma includes restraining harm and protecting rightful household life.
Nārada signals the trigger event in the forest: Śūrpaṇakhā’s encounter with Rāma’s party leading to her disfigurement.
Guarding propriety and safety—responding to threat so that dharmic life (āśrama/household order) is not violated.
