भरतवाक्यं—रामस्य पुनरायोध्यागमननिषेधः
Bharata’s Plea and Rama’s Refusal to Return
हीनबुद्धिगुणो बालो हीनः स्थानेन चाप्यहम्।भवता च विनाभूतो न वर्तयितुमुत्सुहे।।।।
hīna-buddhi-guṇo bālo hīnaḥ sthānena cāpy aham |
bhavatā ca vinābhūto na vartayitum utsahe ||
Ako’y isang bata, salat sa paghatol at mga kabutihang-asal, at mababa rin sa katayuan. Kapag nahiwalay ako sa iyo, wala man akong loob kahit ipagpatuloy ang buhay.
I am a child, deficient in intelligence and virtue and even inferior in position. Deserted by you, I do not wish to live.
Dharma is upheld through loyal support of the righteous; Bharata expresses that life and rule are meaningless to him without alignment to Rama’s rightful leadership.
Bharata intensifies his refusal of kingship, declaring his incapacity and despair if Rama will not return to accept the throne.
Bharata’s unwavering fidelity and self-effacement—he places Rama’s claim above his own existence.
