The Greatness of the Ancestors: Ekoddiṣṭa Śrāddha, Āśauca Rules, and Sapiṇḍīkaraṇa

यास्यामः परमां सिद्धिमूचुस्ते द्विजसत्तमाः । तत्तेषां वचनं श्रुत्वा सुदरिद्रो महातपाः

yāsyāmaḥ paramāṃ siddhimūcuste dvijasattamāḥ | tatteṣāṃ vacanaṃ śrutvā sudaridro mahātapāḥ

“Aabot namin ang pinakamataas na kasakdalan,” wika ng mga pinakadakila sa mga dalawang-ulit-na-isinilang. Nang marinig ang kanilang salita, ang dukhang-dukha—ngunit dakila sa tapasya—ay napukaw.
