Adhyaya 85 — The Gods’ Hymn to the Goddess and the Emergence of Kaushiki; Shumbha Sends His Envoy
स्तुता सुरैः पूर्वमभीष्टसंश्रयात् तथासुरेन्द्रेण दिनेṣu सेविता ।
करोतु सा नः शुभहेतुरीश्वरी शुभानि भद्राण्यभिहन्तु चापदः ॥
stutā suraiḥ pūrvam abhīṣṭasaṃśrayāt tathāsurendreṇa dineṣu sevitā / karotu sā naḥ śubhahetur īśvarī śubhāni bhadrāṇy abhihantu cāpadaḥ
Ang Kataas-taasang Diyosa, na noon ay pinuri ng mga diyos bilang kanlungang nagkakaloob ng katuparan ng ninanais, at maging ang panginoon ng mga asura ay naglilingkod sa oras ng pangangailangan—nawa’y ang Maharlikang Diyosa ang maging sanhi ng kabutihang-palad para sa amin; nawa’y magpala Siya at pawiin ang mga kapahamakan.

The Devī is portrayed as accessible beyond faction: even opponents may turn to her in distress. Ethically, it encourages surrender, repentance, and seeking higher protection rather than clinging to pride.
Stuti/prayer within ākhyāna; it serves the purāṇic purpose of upāsanā (devotional practice) rather than cosmological enumeration.
‘Auspiciousness’ here is not only external welfare but inner alignment: when the sovereign śakti is invoked, disruptive forces (āpadaḥ) both outer and inner are pacified.
