FAQs

Purāṇic history is not merely empirical record; it conveys dharma through exemplary lives. The verse cautions that the full scope of cosmic administrators (Manus) and the true stature of mahātmas cannot be measured by ordinary perception; they are to be grasped through śāstra, tradition, and their dharmic outcomes.

Primarily Manvantara (accounts of Manus and their periods) and, secondarily, Vaṃśānucarita (dynastic/biographical narratives of eminent figures).

‘Beyond the senses’ suggests that cosmic order (ṛta/dharma) operates through subtle causality: merit, tapas, and divine ordinance. The ‘birth’ of a mahātma is read as a manifestation of accumulated tapas and divine purpose, not merely biological origin.
