यन्नाम्बुपूर्वकं क्षिप्तमनर्थोकृतमेव च ।
त्यक्तुमाविष्कृतं यत् तु दत्तं चैवातिविस्मयात् ॥
yan nāmbu-pūrvakaṃ kṣiptam anartho-kṛtam eva ca |
tyaktum āviṣkṛtaṃ yat tu dattaṃ caivāti-vismayāt ||
“At anumang itinatapon nang hindi muna nag-aalay ng tubig, anumang ginagawa nang walang saysay at walang layon; anumang ipinakikita lamang upang iwanan; at anumang ibinibigay dahil sa labis na pagkagulat o bugso ng damdamin—(ang lahat ng iyon ay ibinibigay ko rin sa iyo).”

Dāna and relinquishment are not merely physical acts; they are ethical-ritual transfers that require mindfulness and proper vidhi (such as udaka). Careless disposal and impulsive giving are treated as spiritually misdirected.
