मर्माणि यस्तु साधूनामसद्वाग्भिर्निकृन्तति ।
तमिमे तुदमानास्तु खगास्तिष्ठन्त्यवारिता ॥
marmāṇi yastu sādhūnāmasadvāgbhirnikṛntati / tamime tudamānāstu khagāstiṣṭhantyavāritā

Speech is treated as a form of action (karma). To target the ‘marmas’ of the virtuous—humiliating, slandering, or verbally injuring them—is a subtle violence that generates severe consequence.
