Draupadī’s Lament and Indictment of Misfortune

Educational Q&A

Even under concealment and hardship, inner nature and duty persist: Bhīma’s protective power remains palpable, while Draupadī’s composed resolve reflects ethical endurance—maintaining purpose and vigilance without abandoning dharma during perilous anonymity.

Vaiśampāyana describes Draupadī entering the place where Bhīma is asleep; Bhīma’s heavy, lion-like breathing emphasizes his latent strength. The moment sets a tense domestic scene within the Pandavas’ hidden year in Virāṭa’s domain.
