Lomaśa’s Counsel and the Resolve for Pilgrimage
Realization of the Eternal Supreme—identified here as the Creator and the highest goal—removes sorrow. Grief is portrayed as rooted in ignorance; when one knows the ultimate reality taught by śāstra, one gains steadiness and freedom from lamentation.
Dhaumya is instructing his listeners with a consoling, dharma-oriented teaching: he points them toward the supreme reality (the Eternal Creator and highest state) and states that those who truly know it, guided by scriptural insight, do not succumb to grief.
