Pulastya’s Tīrtha Enumeration: Sarasvatī, Naimiṣa, Gayā, and Associated Phalaśruti
Chapter 82
The verse emphasizes the dharmic value of tīrtha-yātrā: contact with a sanctified place—hallowed by the presence of siddhas—and ritual bathing there is presented as a means of inner and outer purification, symbolized by the moon’s spotless brightness.
In Pulastya’s guidance on pilgrimage sites (tīrthas) within the Vana Parva’s tīrtha-yātrā section, he points out the Reṇukā-tīrtha and describes its spiritual efficacy: a brāhmaṇa who bathes there attains notable purity.
