Nala as Bāhuka enters Ṛtuparṇa’s city
विदर्भराजतनयां दमयन्तीति विद्धि माम् निषधाधिपतेर्भार्या नलस्यामित्रघातिन:,“मैं विदर्भराजकुमारी दमयन्ती हूँ। मुझे शत्रुधाती निषधनरेश नलकी पत्नी समझिये
vidarbharāja-tanayāṃ damayantīti viddhi mām | niṣadhādhipater bhāryā nalasyāmitraghātinaḥ ||
Kilalanin mo ako bilang si Damayantī, anak na babae ng hari ng Vidarbha. Ako ang asawa ni Nala, tagapagpuksa ng mga kaaway, ang pinuno ng Niṣadha—kilalanin mo ako bilang gayon.
बृहृदश्च उवाच
The verse underscores truthful self-identification and the ethical weight of social bonds: Damayantī asserts her lawful status as Nala’s wife, invoking lineage and marital dharma to establish credibility and seek rightful recognition.
