वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights royal etiquette and dharmic conduct: a king first asks after a visitor’s welfare, and only then hears the purpose of the visit. It frames communication as respectful, orderly, and grounded in concern for the other person.
After Yudhiṣṭhira’s courteous inquiry about his well-being, Sañjaya sits comfortably and begins to explain why he has come, introducing the message that will follow in the subsequent verses.
