Sūrya’s Favor and Inexhaustible Provision
दुर्योधन त्वहितं वै निगृहा पाण्डो: पुत्र कुरुष्वाधिपत्ये । अजातशश्न्रुहि विमुक्तरागो धर्मेणेमां पृथिवीं शास्तु राजन्,इस प्रकार अहितकारक दुर्योधनको काबूमें करके आप पाण्डुपुत्र युधिष्ठिरको राज्यपर अभिषिक्त कर दीजिये; क्योंकि वे अजातशत्रु हैं। उनका किसीसे राग या द्वेष नहीं है। राजन! वे ही इस पृथ्वीका धर्मपूर्वक पालन करेंगे
duryodhana tv ahitaṃ vai nigṛhya pāṇḍoḥ putraṃ kuruṣv ādhipatye | ajātaśatruṃ śṛṇuhi vimuktarāgo dharmeṇemāṃ pṛthivīṃ śāstu rājan ||
Wika ni Vidura: “O Duryodhana, pigilan mo ang mapaminsalang landas na ito at iluklok ang anak ni Pāṇḍu sa kapangyarihan. Dinggin mo ang tungkol kay Ajātaśatru (Yudhiṣṭhira): malaya sa pagnanasa at poot; O Hari, pamamahalaan niya ang daigdig na ito ayon sa dharma.”
विदुर उवाच
Vidura teaches that political power should be grounded in dharma: restrain harmful impulses and entrust rule to a leader characterized by freedom from attachment and enmity (Ajātaśatru/Yudhiṣṭhira), who can govern justly.
Vidura addresses Duryodhana with corrective counsel, urging him to curb his harmful stance and to install Pāṇḍu’s son Yudhiṣṭhira as ruler, emphasizing Yudhiṣṭhira’s reputation for impartiality and dharmic governance.
