Shloka 8

Educational Q&A

The verse foregrounds a basic dharmic impulse: when confronted with a vulnerable child, one responds with compassionate care and assumes responsibility, beginning within the household (husband and wife acting together).

The narrator describes a charioteer who, with his wife, beholds a child; overcome with delighted astonishment, he lifts the boy onto his lap and then addresses his wife, setting up the next action or decision in the story.
