अध्याय ३० — क्रोधदोषाः क्षमाप्रशंसा च
Defects of Anger and the Praise of Forbearance
भीमसेनार्जुनौ चो भौ माद्रेयौ च मया सह । त्यजेस्त्वमिति मे बुद्धिर्न तु धर्म परित्यजे:,मुझे विश्वास है कि आप मेरेसहित भीमसेन, अर्जुन और नकुल-सहदेवको भी त्याग देंगे; किंतु धर्मका त्याग नहीं करेंगे
bhīmasenārjunau cobhau mādreyau ca mayā saha | tyajestvam iti me buddhir na tu dharma parityajeḥ ||
Wika ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “Naniniwala akong kaya mong talikuran maging si Bhīmasena at si Arjuna, pati ang dalawang anak ni Mādrī—oo, pati ako kasama nila; ngunit hindi mo kailanman tatalikuran ang dharma.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse elevates dharma above personal attachment: even if loved ones could be abandoned, true nobility is measured by unwavering commitment to righteousness and moral order.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses someone whose character he trusts, stating his firm belief that this person would sooner give up the Pāṇḍava brothers (and even Yudhiṣṭhira himself) than ever forsake dharma—highlighting the speaker’s ethical appraisal and the primacy of dharma in the episode.
