Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
संहारकाले सम्प्राप्ते तव क्रोधविनि:सृत: । संवर्तकाग्निस्त्रैलोक्यं भस्मीकृत्यावतिष्ठते,प्रलयकाल आनेपर आपके ही क्रोधसे प्रकट हुई संवर्तक नामक अग्नि तीनों लोकोंको भस्म करके फिर आपमें ही स्थित हो जाती है
saṁhārakāle samprāpte tava krodha-viniḥsṛtaḥ | saṁvartakāgnis trailokyaṁ bhasmīkṛtyāvatiṣṭhate ||
Wika ni Yudhiṣṭhira: “Kapag dumating ang panahon ng pagkalusaw, ang apoy na Saṁvartaka—na sumiklab mula sa mismong poot mo—ay ginagawang abo ang tatlong daigdig, at pagkaraan ay muling nananahan sa loob mo.”
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse highlights the immense, world-ending potency attributed to divine wrath, implying an ethical warning: anger is not a trivial emotion but a force that can destroy order; therefore it must be governed and restrained.
Yudhiṣṭhira addresses a powerful being, describing how at the time of cosmic dissolution a fire called Saṁvartaka emerges from that being’s anger, burns the three worlds, and then subsides back into the same source.
