रावण–मारीचसंवादः तथा मृगप्रलोभनपूर्वकं सीताहरणोपक्रमः

देवदूत नमस्ते5स्तु गच्छ तात यथासुखम्‌ | महादोषेण मे कार्य न स्वर्गेण सुखेन वा,“देवदूत! तुम्हें नमस्कार है। तात! तुम सुखपूर्वक पधारो। स्वर्ग अथवा वहाँका सुख महान्‌ दोषसे युक्त है; इसलिये मुझे उसकी आवश्यकता नहीं है

devadūta namaste 'stu gaccha tāta yathāsukham | mahādoṣeṇa me kāryaṁ na svargeṇa sukhena vā ||

Sinabi ni Vyāsa: “O banal na sugo, tinatanggap mo ang aking pagpupugay. Mahal kong anak, magpatuloy ka sa iyong daan nang payapa. Para sa akin, ang langit—maging ang ligayang naroon—ay nakaugnay sa isang mabigat na pagkukulang sa dharma; kaya’t wala akong pangangailangan doon.”
