रावण–मारीचसंवादः तथा मृगप्रलोभनपूर्वकं सीताहरणोपक्रमः
Rāvaṇa–Mārīca Dialogue and the Decoy-Deer Prelude to Sītā’s Abduction
व्यास उवाच एतच्छुत्वा तु मौद्गल्यो वाक््यं विममृशे धिया । विमृश्य च मुनिश्रेष्ठो देवदूतमुवाच ह,व्यासजी कहते हैं--राजन्! देवदूतकी यह बात सुनकर मुनिश्रेष्ठ मुदगलने उसपर बुद्धिपूर्वक विचार किया। विचार करके उन्होंने देवदूतसे कहा--
vyāsa uvāca | etac chrutvā tu maudgalyo vākyam vimamṛśe dhiyā | vimṛśya ca muniśreṣṭho devadūtam uvāca ha |
Sinabi ni Vyāsa: “O Hari, nang marinig ni Mudgala—ang pinakadakilang pantas—ang mga salita ng sugo ng mga diyos, pinag-isipan niya iyon nang may malinaw na pag-unawa. Pagkatapos ng masusing pagninilay, kinausap ng dakilang rishi ang makalangit na sugo—hudyat ng tugong pinagbatayan ng dharma, hindi ng padalus-dalos na damdamin.”
व्यास उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic method: one should first listen carefully, then reflect with clear intellect, and only afterward respond. Ethical speech is portrayed as the fruit of deliberation rather than impulse.
Vyāsa narrates that the sage Mudgala hears the divine messenger’s statement, thinks it through thoughtfully, and then begins his reply—setting up the next portion of the dialogue.
