The verse reinforces a didactic enumeration: water is characterized by four perceptible qualities—sound, touch, form, and taste—used in the dialogue to ground ethical instruction in orderly knowledge and careful recollection of what has already been taught.
In the Vyādha’s instruction to a Brahmin, the speaker briefly recaps a prior explanation, reminding the listener that these four qualities belong to water, continuing a systematic teaching style within the moral discourse.
