Cyavana’s Tapas, Sukanyā’s Curiosity, and Śaryāti’s Appeasement (च्यवन-सुकन्या-उपाख्यान आरम्भ)
सुकन्यापि पतिं लब्ध्वा तपस्विनमनिन्दिता । नित्यं पर्यचरत् प्रीत्या तपसा नियमेन च,सुकन्या भी तपस्वी च्यवनको पतिरूपमें पाकर प्रतिदिन प्रेमपूर्वकत तप और नियमका पालन करती हुई उनकी परिचर्या करने लगी
Sukanyāpi patiṁ labdhvā tapasvinam aninditā | nityaṁ paryacarat prītyā tapasā niyamena ca ||
Si Sukanyā—walang kapintasan sa asal—nang makamtan bilang asawa ang asetiko na si Cyavana, ay araw-araw na naglingkod sa kaniya nang may pag-ibig, matatag na tumutupad sa pag-aayuno at pagpipigil-sa-sarili.

Dharma in household life can be expressed through loving service (paricaryā) supported by disciplined observance—tapas (austerity) and niyama (self-restraint). Affection is not opposed to duty; it strengthens steadfast ethical conduct.
Lomaśa describes Sukanyā after her marriage to the ascetic Cyavana: she regularly attends to him with devotion, and her daily life is marked by affectionate service along with strict observance of ascetic disciplines.
