Ṛśyaśṛṅgopākhyāna-praveśaḥ — Lomāśa narrates the origins of Ṛśyaśṛṅga and the Anga drought (ऋश्यशृङ्गोपाख्यान-प्रवेशः)
निर्वेदो जायते तत्र गृहाणि स्मरते जन: । एवं बहुविधान् भावानद्धुतान् वीक्ष्य पाण्डव: । लोमशं पुनरेवाथ पर्यपृच्छत् तदद्भुतम्
nirvedo jāyate tatra gṛhāṇi smarate janaḥ | evaṃ bahuvidhān bhāvān adbhutān vīkṣya pāṇḍavaḥ | lomaśaṃ punar evātha paryapṛcchat tad-adbhutam |
Doon, sumisibol ang paglayo ng loob sa makamundo, at ang tao’y nagsisimulang magunita ng tahanan. Matapos masaksihan ang sari-saring kagila-gilalas na kalagayan at pangyayari, muling tinanong ng Pāṇḍava (Yudhiṣṭhira) si Lomaśa tungkol sa kababalaghang iyon—hindi upang mamangha lamang, kundi upang maunawaan; gaya ng taong natututo sa pambihirang tanawin upang patatagin ang isip at matukoy ang nararapat.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Extraordinary sights and intense experiences can awaken nirveda (dispassion) and turn the mind inward; the proper response is thoughtful inquiry—seeking meaning and guidance rather than being carried away by mere amazement.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that, after observing many wondrous phenomena, the Pāṇḍava (Yudhiṣṭhira) again questions the sage Lomaśa, asking him to explain the marvel they have encountered.
