मार्दवं सर्वभूतानामनसूया क्षमा धृति: । आयुष्याणि बुधा:ः प्राहुर्मित्राणां चाविमानना

mārdavaṁ sarvabhūtānām anasūyā kṣamā dhṛtiḥ | āyuṣyāṇi budhāḥ prāhur mitrāṇāṁ cāvimānanā ||

Itinuturo ni Vidura na ang kahinahunan sa lahat ng nilalang, ang hindi paghanap ng kapintasan, ang pagpapatawad, ang katatagan, at ang hindi paghamak sa mga kaibigan—ang mga birtud na ito ang nag-iingat at nagpapahaba ng buhay, ayon sa pahayag ng mga marurunong.
