ययातिदौहित्रपुण्यसमुच्चयः | Yayāti and the Grandsons’ Consolidation of Merit

ययातिरुपजिघ्रन्‌ वै निपपात महीं प्रति । उनके यज्ञका धूम मानो स्वर्गका द्वार बनकर उपस्थित हुआ था। ययाति उसीको सूँघते हुए पृथ्वीकी ओर गिर रहे थे || ११ ह ।। भूमौ स्वर्गे च सम्बद्धां नदीं धूममयीमिव । गड्जां गामिव गच्छन्तीमालम्ब्य जगतीपति:,भूतलसे स्वर्गतक धूममयी नदी-सी प्रवाहित हो रही थी, मानो आकाशगंगा भूमिपर जा रही हों। भूपाल ययाति उसी धूमलेखाका अवलम्बन करके लोकपालोंके समान तेजस्वी तथा अवभृथ स्नानसे पवित्र अपने चारों सम्बन्धियोंके बीचमें गिरे

yayātir upajighran vai nipapāta mahīṁ prati | bhūmau svarge ca sambaddhāṁ nadīṁ dhūmamayīm iva | gaṅgāṁ gām iva gacchantīm ālambya jagatīpatiḥ ||

Wika ni Nārada: Ang haring si Yayāti, na wari’y nais singhutin ang usok, ay bumagsak pababa tungo sa lupa. Ang usok ng kaniyang paghahandog ay nagmistulang isang daan—isang ilog ng usok na nagdurugtong sa langit at daigdig, na para bang ang Gaṅgā mismo’y bumababa sa sanlibutan. Kumapit sa agos-usok na iyon ang panginoon ng lupa at nanaog; ang pagbagsak niya’y inilarawan bilang isang pagbaligtad na moral: ang pagkawala ng katayuan sa langit kapag naubos ang bisa ng kabutihang nagawa, at ang hangganan ng gantimpalang naibibigay ng ritwal.
