Gālava Completes the Horse-Gift: Garuḍa’s Counsel and Viśvāmitra’s Acceptance (गालव-विष्वामित्र-सम्बन्धः)
अहमप्येकमेवास्यां जनयिष्यामि गालव । पुत्रं द्विज गतं मार्ग गमिष्यामि परैरहम्,“अतः ब्रह्मर्षि गालव! मैं भी इस कन्याके गर्भसे एक ही पुत्र उत्पन्न करूँगा। दूसरे लोग जिस मार्गपर चले हैं, उसीपर मैं भी चलूँगा
aham apy ekam evāsyāṁ janayiṣyāmi gālava | putraṁ dvija gataṁ mārgaṁ gamiṣyāmi parair aham ||
Wika ni Nārada: “O Gālava, ako man ay magpapasibol mula sa sinapupunan ng dalagang ito ng iisang anak na lalaki lamang. At, O Brahmin, susundan ko ang landas na dinaanan na ng iba.”
नारद उवाच
The verse emphasizes restraint and adherence to established righteous precedent: even a powerful sage declares he will beget only one son and will follow the same socially accepted course others have followed, underscoring responsibility in matters of progeny and conduct.
Nārada addresses Gālava and states his intention to father a single son through the maiden in question, adding that he will proceed along the same path already taken by others—indicating participation in an arranged sequence or agreed plan concerning her and the begetting of sons.
