The verse presents praṇava (Oṃ) as the fountainhead of Vedic revelation and portrays sages as sustained by sacrificial sanctity (havis-smoke), emphasizing dharma rooted in Veda, yajña, and disciplined ascetic life.
Yuparṇa is describing a particular cosmic direction/region: it is associated with the manifestation of Vedic streams (branches of sacred knowledge) from Oṃ, and it is inhabited by dhūmapā sages who ‘drink’ the smoke of offerings—an image of a realm defined by ritual and spiritual austerity.
