राज्ञोऽभिषेकः, अराजकदोषः, दण्डधारणस्य आवश्यकता

Royal Consecration, the Fault of Kinglessness, and the Necessity of Enforcement

अकामद्वेषयुक्तस्य दण्डनीत्या युधिष्ठिर । समदर्शिनिश्च भूतेषु भैक्ष्याश्रमप्दं भवेत्‌

akāmadveṣayuktasya daṇḍanītyā yudhiṣṭhira | samadarśinaś ca bhūteṣu bhaikṣyāśramapadaṃ bhavet, kuntīnandana! naraśreṣṭha! |

Sinabi ni Bhīṣma: “O Yudhiṣṭhira, kapag ang isang hari ay malaya sa pagnanasa at poot, at namamahala ayon sa mga simulain ng daṇḍanīti—parusa at katarungan—at kapag tinitingnan niya ang lahat ng nilalang nang pantay, natatamo niya ang kalagayan at layuning nauukol sa landas ng pulubing banal/renunciante (sannyāsin). Kaya, ang mga bungang nakakamit ng mga taong tapat sa mabuting asal na tumutupad sa mga tungkulin ng apat na āśrama ay nakakamit din ng pinunong nagwaksi ng pagkakapit at pagkapoot at namumuno sa pamamagitan ng matuwid na disiplina; at kung siya’y walang kinikilingan sa lahat ng nilalang, nararating niya ang pinakamataas na landas na tulad ng sa sannyāsin.”
