Yudhiṣṭhira’s Post-Accession Settlements and Approach to Vāsudeva

The verse highlights rājadharma expressed through generosity: a householder/king should sustain dependents, honor guests, protect those who seek refuge, and relieve the poor—ensuring social stability and moral order through timely, appropriate giving.
Vaiśampāyana narrates that the central figure (the patron/king being described) distributes enjoyable provisions and support to various groups—servants and dependents, refugees, guests, the destitute, and professional advisers—thereby fulfilling obligations of hospitality, protection, and charity.
