Nāga-āyatana-darśana-pratīkṣā — The Brāhmaṇa’s Request and Waiting on the Gomatī
पीठयोश्वोपविष्टौ तौ कृतातिथ्याद्विकौ नृप । तेषु तत्रोपविष्टेषु स देशोडभिव्यराजत
pīṭhayoś copaviṣṭau tau kṛtātithyādvikau nṛpa | teṣu tatropaviṣṭeṣu sa deśo 'bhivyarājata ||
Wika ni Vaiśampāyana: O hari, matapos ganap na maisagawa ang mga kaukulang ritwal ng pagtanggap at paggalang sa panauhin, umupo ang dalawa sa mga upuan. At nang sila’y nakaupo na roon, ang pook na iyon ay nagningning sa isang natatanging karilagan—naging mapalad dahil sa kanilang pagdalo at sa wastong pagtupad sa dangal ng panauhin.
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights atithya-dharma (the duty of honoring guests): when hospitality is properly performed and worthy persons are respectfully seated, the very place becomes auspicious and radiant—suggesting that ethical conduct sanctifies space.
After the hosts complete the formalities of welcoming and honoring guests, the two individuals sit on seats. Their settled presence, together with the completed hospitality, makes the setting appear especially splendid.
