मानुष्यमसुखं प्राप्प य: सज्जति स मुहाृति । नालं स दुःखमोक्षाय संयोगो दुःखलक्षणम्
mānuṣyam asukhaṁ prāpya yaḥ sajjati sa muhyati | nālaṁ sa duḥkhamokṣāya saṁyogo duḥkhalakṣaṇaḥ ||
Wika ni Nārada: “Matapos makamtan ang kalagayang pantao—na madalas ay salat sa tunay na ligaya—ang sinumang mahumaling sa mga bagay ng pandama ay nahuhulog sa pagkalito. Ang pakikipag-ugnay sa mga bagay ay may tatak na pagdurusa sa sarili nito; kaya’t hindi ito sapat upang makalaya sa dalamhati.”
नारद उवाच
Human life is easily wasted in attachment; sense-contact (saṁyoga) is inherently bound up with suffering, so liberation from sorrow requires detachment and a higher pursuit than enjoyment of objects.
In the didactic discourse of Śānti Parva, Nārada instructs the listener by warning that attachment to worldly objects after gaining a rare human birth leads to delusion and cannot bring freedom from suffering.
