Impermanence, Svabhāva, and Śuka’s Resolve for Yoga
प्राप्स्यसे च यदिष्टं तत् सांख्ययोगेप्सितं पदम् । एतावदुक्त्वा भगवानस्तमेवाभ्यवर्तत
prāpsyase ca yadiṣṭaṃ tat sāṅkhyayogepsitaṃ padam | etāvad uktvā bhagavān astam evābhyavartata |
“Makakamtan mo ang minimithing kalagayang iyon—ang sukdulang layuning minimithi maging ng mga tagasunod ng Sāṅkhya at ng mga nagsasanay ng Yoga.” Pagkasabi lamang nito, umurong ang pinagpalang diyos na Araw at naglaho sa paningin sa mismong pook na iyon.
याज़्ञवल्क्य उवाच
The verse affirms that the promised attainment is the highest spiritual goal (padam) sought by both Sāṅkhya (knowledge/discrimination) and Yoga (discipline/meditation), implying the convergence of these paths in liberation-oriented realization.
A divine figure identified as the Sun-god delivers a brief assurance of the seeker’s attainment of the supreme desired state; after speaking, he withdraws and becomes invisible, marking the close of the divine encounter.
