नारद–शुक संवादः (Nārada–Śuka Dialogue): Tyāga, Saṃyama, and Vyakta–Avyakta Viveka

यावद्धि प्रलयस्तात सूक्ष्मेणाष्टगुणेन ह । योगेन लोकान्‌ विचरन्‌ सुखं संन्यस्य चानघ

yāvad dhi pralayas tāta sūkṣmeṇāṣṭaguṇena ha | yogena lokān vicaran sukhaṃ saṃnyasya cānagha ||

Sinabi ni Yājñavalkya: “Minamahal, ikaw na walang dungis, hanggang hindi dumarating ang pralaya (kamatayan), ang yogin—na iniiwan dito ang magaspang na katawan—ay masayang nakalilibot sa iba’t ibang daigdig sa bisa ng yoga, sa isang maselang katawan na may walong uri ng kahusayan. Ang diwa nito: ang disiplinadong pagtalikod at pagkamaster sa yoga ay nakapagpapalaya sa karaniwang hangganan ng katawan, subalit ang kalayaang ito’y may hangganang kosmiko sa pralaya; kaya’t isagawa ang yoga nang may kadalisayan at pagkalagot sa pagkapit, hindi dahil lamang sa paghanga sa himalang paglalakbay.”

Educational Q&A

Through yoga and renunciation, a yogin can function apart from the gross body and experience mobility in a subtle body endowed with extraordinary capacities; yet such powers remain within the limits of time and dissolution (pralaya). The ethical emphasis is detachment and purity, not fascination with power.

Yājñavalkya is explaining to his addressee the yogic condition in which the practitioner, leaving the gross body behind, roams among different worlds by yogic force in a subtle, eightfold-endowed form, continuing so until the destined end (pralaya/death).
